It seems somewhat unfair when discussing the Electoral College Voting system; some states have many more electoral votes than others, just because their population is greater. It is almost as if one state can possess way more power than another, which, to me, seems unfair; however it is the popular vote that it is being compared to. Often there are several issues associated with the Electoral vote, such as the inaccuracy concerning the Blue/Red divide. Another interesting downfall of the Electoral College is the suppression of rural voters, mainly in bigger states with larger cities. It appears that many believe there are more cons associated with the Electoral College than pros.

According to an excerpt from an original document located at the Jackson, County MO Election Board, “Those who object the Electoral College system and favor a direct popular election of the president generally do so on four grounds

* The possibility of electing a minority president

* The risk of so-called “faithless” Electors,

* The possible role of Electoral College depressing voter turnout, and

Ultimately, I believe that nobody can ever be completely satisfied with the government because it is basically a compilation of different ideas, beliefs, and theories. Also, it is a fact that the Electoral College does not accurately reflect the national popular will; personally I feel as if Democracy is not being utilized to its full potential, for I feel that the national popular will is what Democracy is based upon. I do not think that the Electoral College is fair, plain and simple for the fact that one state, theoretically, could occupy a certain way of thinking, and it could be due to numerous aspects; futuristically I am concerned somewhat of what may become if this process is continued.
