Introduction

FDI in UAE

The UAE is the second largest foreign investment destination in the Gulf after Qatar, according to a report by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, based on data from The Economist Intelligence Unit and the IMF. The study reveals that Qatar, the UAE and, thirdly, Bahrain have more inward FDI than their own national outward investment in foreign countries.

As it shows in below chart UAE is the second county of GCC in inflow of foreign direct investment in 2008 and the third place in 2009.

All theses things made UAE a desirable destination for foreign companies to invest in UAE to improve their business and reach to their market globalization goals. (AME info (Proquest Doc ID 232885820) & PDF FDI)

They are using UAE to reach more that 1.7 billion consumers in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The UAE has an open economy with high per capita income.

Since the discovery of oil in the UAE more than 30 years ago, the UAE has undergone a profound transformation from an impoverished region of small desert principalities to a modern state with a high standard of living.

The UAE government has spent more for job creation and infrastructure expansion.

However foreign trade zones in UAE helps attract foreign companies by 100% foreign ownership and zero taxes.
