Arby’s, best known for being THE place to get good, convenient, and fast roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. Arby’s was the idea of two brothers named Forrest and Leroy Raffel in 1964. The two brothers wanted to get into the fast food industry and felt there was a need for food other than hamburgers (“About Arby's®”). To venture into this new territory the brothers needed a name, and they decided to call it Arby’s based on the brothers’ initials of R.B. “They fine tuned the operation and sold the first franchise to Sam Feldman the following year” (“About Arby's®”). During the 70s, Arby's expanded at a rate of 50 stores per year while also increasing the menu items to include timeless favorites such as curly fries, and the sauces (“About Arby's®”).

The franchise is part of the restaurant industry with over 3,000 restaurants located throughout the world with most being in the United States, with the headquarters of Arby’s located in Sandy Springs, Georgia. It purchased the T.J. Cinnamons franchise and is currently just franchising the T.J. Cinnamons brand (“Brand History”). Arby’s parent company Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. was part of the corporation known as the Wendy’s/Arby’s Group until earlier this year when the company’s split in February 2011 (“American Fast Food: From Supersize to Downsized”).

The type of products that Arby’s offers are: “full-menu/service restaurants offering a variety of Arby's signature roast beef sandwiches and other items such as the unique Market Fresh deli-style sandwiches, roast chicken, roast turkey, specialty sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, super-stuffed potatoes, potato cakes, salad, dessert, shakes and other food, and non-alcoholic beverage products (“Arby’s Franchise Information”). In 1991, Arby's was the first to introduce a complete Lite Menu featuring three sandwiches and four salads under 300 calories and 94% fat free.
