Interventions That Apply Scripture In Psychotherapy

Summary

Counseling could be a challenging job especially in the Christian counseling field when dealing with Christian clients to develop treatment section that involve the Bible. This article uses a case study setup that shows few intervention strategies approaches for counselors to use. These were the sample use Implicit Scriptures, Intervention Psychoeducational, Theoeducational, Behavioral, Cognitive, Cognitive, and Affective Experiential. The case study based on a 30 year old causation male named George who was suffering from depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts and trouble sleeping for the past 10 years. The article also show how a clinician can use scriptures as a source in a section as well to increase Christian counselors knowledge of the types of scriptures intervention accessible and to encourage “divinely inspired creativity” in the further development of strategies to incorporate the Living Word of God in Christian psychotherapy

Client will encounter some involvement with the Bible based on his religio-cultural background. First and formal his religious background needs to be evaluated carefully and any Biblical intervention use into the treatment has to be done in an extremely ethical manner approach. Also bearing in mind the ethical, cultural, and assessment concern involved including Scripture in treatment, undoing one’s own countertransference response to the option of using Scripture will increase the ability correctly assess an intervention.

Intervention

George assessment shows that he uses his Christian faith as a source for support as well as his church.
