Elite Electric Company

This case is about the Elite Electric Company that is a moderately small manufacturing subsidiary of a large European corporation. Mr. William White headed the Massachusetts plant. He originally came from LTV, which is located in Dallas, Texas. When the original owners sold out to the European concern, White was made president. The following year, he opened the Pennsylvania plant.

Operational Philosophy is the field of study of the process, which includes studying the standards and guidelines for thought and for logic, by which people develop concepts and principles, which describe people, things, events, and techniques for using the concepts. The principle purpose of this philosophy is so that the company can observe, analyze, understand, evaluate, organize, and deal with themselves and other people, things, and events who/which comprise the company.

White developed a six-item operational philosophy. The components of this philosophy are as follows:

* Make product quality and customer service top priorities.

* Foster a human-oriented working atmosphere.

* Maximize communication, interaction, and involvement.

* Minimize the layers of organizational structure, and control the growth of bureaucracy.

* Value and respect our form of company organization.

* Strive for excellence in our business performance

I think the overall type of organizational structure for this company is the "work hard/play hard" organizational culture. This type of an organizational culture does not take many risks, but it does take a few, and all receive fast feedback. This is something most likely to be seen in a very large company, which is dependent on strong customer service. Multiple team meetings, specialized jargon, and buzzwords often characterize this type of organizational culture.
