1. King uses several literary tools which create a powerful tone to complement his strong opinions. He uses comparisons to help the reader understand not only the historical reasons why segregation is wrong, but the costly emotional effects that it has on everyone who experiences it. King also uses realistic examples to show the reader how segregation damages one's character. His terminology creates a clear definition between the whites and blacks as segregator and segregated. As shown in this piece, King's skill for expressing his ideas in writing has caused him to be considered one of America's greatest communicators. This is essential to the readers because it helps them to connect and understand to what King has to say.

2. Martin Luther King, believed that all races were created equal, and should be treated equally. Essentially, his ideal world was color-blind, and no opportunities should be provided or denied based on a persons race. Another moral leader Dr. King invoke to strengthen his argument is St. Tomas Aquinas, Mahatma Gandhi, and so on. This is effective because it goes to show that it's not just him who wants to speak out against the oppressed. That injustice is happening around the world and we can help bring attention to them.

Throughout King's letter he often compares himself to biblical characters to increase the pathos of respect for his cause, the cause of truth.
