“Sportin’ Life”- A Minority Entrepreneur’s Creation

Introduction:

George Huggins is a teacher and an entrepreneur who has an idea to develop an anti-drug sports character, “Sportin’ Life”. He wants to offer “Sportin’ Life” as a cartoon character that can be a role model to kids that upholds the values so many athletes lack.

Questions:

1. As a consultant evaluate the most viable opportunity for George. I believe that the Educational TASCC Force is the best opportunity for Huggins to begin making his dream come to pass. The “Sportin’ Life” concept is brilliant. There are very little to no great mascots in the sporting arena that are aimed at being the examples for children today. Children are always looking for someone or something to look up to even though they do not realize it. The market niche is brilliant, the competition is small and the market for this product is a new one in which as a very high potential to grow. All of Huggins’ concepts are great but this concept has the best plan of action. This opportunity is the best way to get the idea and the concept of Sportin Life across to others in the community or communities. This opportunity may need more financial planning but nonetheless it will start a great use for word of mouth marketing.

2. Do entrepreneurial opportunities exist that George has not considered? What are they? One major opportunity that comes to mind is a mentorship program for teens. As I look at the plans in this program I believe that the age group 13-18 is missing out. This is the age group that looks for something to be apart of more than any group. This is the age group that normally ends up in gangs and hanging with the wrong crowd. This age group looks to be apart of something more than any other age group. I feel that this age group is critical for positive development and may be missing out on a great program such as this. Not to mention that the teens that become apart of a program such...
