Based on the results I would be a good fit for a new manager in an organization with an uncertain environment. I believe this is largely in part from the training that I received in the Army while deployed in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After 911, our unit was sent to Kuwait and then Iraq. Things were very uncertain. We did not even know if we were dealing with weapons of mass destruction. The media kept instilling fear in the public and more so in my mind. However, due to my commitment, I had to go despite the uncertain environment. This situation showed me how to adapt to many changes and how to survive in an uncertain culture where each and every day was uncertain. Once the war started and missiles were attacking us daily, even our survival or return home was uncertain. We had to live without many of the comforts of home and become very inventive. I learned how to survive in the desert in very hot temperatures and in a very hostile environment. I am able to adapt to a work environment and behave in a manner conducive to change. I am also able to access situations and make plans and/or changes to provide an outcome that will be beneficial. Becoming a Drill Sergeant also taught me how to teach soldiers how to adapt to change. I am able to use this training in the civilian sector. Once I work on my “soft” skills I think I can develop into a good manager for my current position.
