Kyle’s family? How would you have felt had he moved into your neighborhood during elementary school? If he had joined your class in high school? How would your community have treated him. While I will collect and present some of your responses in class, do not put your name on your work. I will make a note of who has completed the assignment in my gradebook when I collect them. All comments will be presented anonymously to the class, to encourage honest responses.

We jump back starting this week to discuss issues of family, class and education. Essay topics might deal with any current social issue, such as the ones found in Synthesis Writing Assignments page 396 (options 1, 4 or 7), page 470 (options 3, 5 or 6), or page 527 (options 4, 6 or 8). Be sure to review the Assignment Sheet posted on the class website. As always, it's critical that you make your decision as soon as possible and begin researching your topic, especially if you've chosen this section to present.

Your documentation style for this essay will follow American Psychological Association (APA) format. Review page 425-454 in your handbook and come prepared with any questions you have on how to properly cite sources using this format.

Note: Next Friday marks the deadline to withdraw from courses for Spring 2012. If you have six or more absences you should see me during my office hours this week to discuss whether continuing in the course is in your best academic interests.
