Negotiation is a process, which everyone uses daily. Coworkers negotiate where he or she will eat lunch at today; parents negotiate with their children on completing his or her chores. Negotiation is not a process set aside only for the business-minded individual it is a tool everyone uses. Negotiations and communications happen between two parties resolving a problem or dispute over limited resources. This week’s assignment in management class 445 learning team A will summarize briefly the analysis of a particular case in part A of case 3, for the “Power Play for Howard.” Then team A will address the following analysis by evaluating any possible benefits, expenses, or risk linked through negotiating circumstances for Juwan Howard’s agreement and the viewpoints of every person involved.

This case study was an example of how important negotiation skills are in organizations. The negotiation that the team discusses happens in 1996 involving the National Basketball Association. Bullets player Juwan Howard was the team’s most valuable player after two years of playing. Washington was loyal to Howard who started his National Basketball Association career there. They believe that Howard was the key to winning a Championship for the franchise. Howard then took up the short two-year contract after college. By the end of Juwans’ two-year contract he would become a free agent, and he would be able to negotiate with other National Basketball Association teams.

Many National Basketball Association teams were willing to take in Howard and were willing to offer the player top dollar along with other perks to become a member of the team. Howard’s agent Falk prepares to offer the bullets the first opportunity to negotiate a great deal for Howard, besides; Howard wanted to remain a Bullet and wanted them to respect him for his talent and new find leadership within the franchise.
