I was quiet amused this weekend as we cycled through several family commitments, homework (on the weekend), college, chores, toys, boys……..Ok, you get the point. Do you know one of the most important senses that I found myself utilizing? It was the sense of hearing. Now granted most if not all of the events of the weekend could have continued without the sense of hearing, but the challenge would have been great.

As we live our daily lives striving to be all that God would have us to be, how important do you think hearing or being heard is?

I would like to focus our attention to today on this very important aspect of our daily Christian life. We will look at it from 4 important perspectives and categorize it by the value that it provides in our lives.

1. To hear God

2. To be heard by God

3. To hear others

4. To be heard by others

To hear God

We must make it a top priority to first hear God! We should not get the other three perspectives ahead of God.

Have you heard God recently? How do we hear God? He communicates to our spirit, heart, mind and even audible at His discretion and our need. The value of prayer and devotion periods is valuable in hearing God. When we set aside the world and gather into worship and prayer our senses are at full alert.

Deuteronomy 6: 3-4 (176) Hear, O Israel – (commandments & instruction)

John 10:1-5 (928) the sheep hear the shepherd and will not follow others…. (Leadership)

John 11:15 (839) he that hat ears to hear let him hear …(Necessary) Jesus unto the multitudes regarding John.

Romans 10:17 (982) so then Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Faith From)
