I recently have become acquainted with ebay and selling items. I for the first time posted an item in auction for a friend who was trying to sell a CD player. I wish I had taken the time to find out that there are tutorials people can use as guides to selling items on ebay. I mistakenly thought I had done enough research by looking at other similar items to the one we were trying to sell. My friend was hoping to get what she had paid for it which was 80 dollars the CD player was only a month old. So we had set the asking price for 80 dollars and the starting bid for 25 dollars. We also had to calculate the shipping costs to ship the item we just chose a low cost priority shipping which was like 3.95. Then my friend wanted to only have a short auction period in an attempt to try and sell it fast so we only set up a 3 day auction period. When the auction ended we had only one bidder who had bid just the minimum and had won the auction. I am no facing a new dilemma because. The friend who was trying to sell the CD player was hoping for a better result and was disappointed not to have gotten any higher bids. She doesn’t want to sell the CD player for the 25 dollars. We contacted the buyer to inform him of this prior to completing any form of transaction and the buyer still wants to purchase the CD player. This is still an ongoing struggle because the buyer was told that he could complete the transaction in which event we would be obligated to send the said the buyer. But we were informed that we have the ability to refund his money which is going to be the process we take. Having said that if I had done more research prior to posting my item for sale for instance following the tutorials in my opinion ebay can be a very lucrative resource for someone looking to start and online retail service.
