Management Interview
Our group, the nine’s, interviewed ___________ the customer service manager of Old Navy in Paducah, KY. The management interview gave our group a better grasp of real world management, and what they actually do to make the world go round. We have __________ several questions that we discussed were the best, and ones’ that we thought were the most interesting and relevant to the assignment. The interview was great experience for us to realize what real managers do, what is expected of them, and what responsibilities they have. Our group learned many characteristics about management, and we were able to apply what we learned in MGT 350 to the management interview process; which was extremely beneficial. We will discuss the history of Old Navy, the information learned from manager and environment, what each team member gained from the manager process, and lastly what our overall team’s perception was about the interview experience.
As many may already know, Old Navy is a fairly new company, branching off from Gap incorporated in 1994. Gap Incorporated opened the first three stores in 1994, in the Northern California of Colma, San Leandro, and Pittsburg. Old Navy’s mission statement is to “offer affordable, fashionable clothing and accessories for the whole family.” In 1995, after the first year of the opening of first stores, Old Navy’s Manhattan flagship opens at 18th and 6th, and Chris Isaak joins the festivities. Newsweek magazine reports that Old Navy is the first Manhattan retailer where employees and outfitted with headsets, and Old Navy’s item of the week is launched. By the end of the year 1995, there were 131 total stores of Old Navy.
