INTRODUCTION

In this project I am going to do a research on the wildlife in Australia. I am going to do a research on quokka, kangaroos and black swan. Australia is the home for many wildlife animals. This helps the continent to attract more tourists and enables it to appear beautiful as compared to the other countries.

QUOKKA

Description about the quokka

Quokka is a small creature which resembles a wallaby. It is 80 centimetre long and weighs 4 kilogram. It has small curved ears which are covered by grey or brown fur. It is known to be a hairy creature as its body is covered in thick and long fur. It has hinds just like the kangaroo. It has a fairly short tail, which supports it when it sleeps during the day.

Behaviour of the quokka

Quokka is known to survive for long periods of time without drinking water. It feeds on leaves and native grass at night. Quokka is normally seen hopping around on its hinds to get from one place to another. This creature sleeps during the day and move around at night.

Conservation status of the quokka

Quokka is an endangered species because it can only be found on the mainland today, but in the past it was found in the southern part of Australia. Some of them have lucky survived and can be found on Rottnest Island in Western Australia.

Scientific classification of the quokka

Its binomial name is Setonix S. brachyurus, so it belongs to the Genus Setonix and the species S. brachyurus.

Where are quokka found around the world?

It is found on the Rottnest Island in Perth, which is located in Western Australia.

Description about the kangaroo

Kangaroo has very strong hind legs and short forelimbs, which help it to leap up to 30 feet. It has a long tail which helps it to balance. Its body is covered in thick hair, which can be grey, brown or red. Kangaroos are known to be marsupial, so the female carries the newborn babies in a pouch.
