Background
Process reference models
A process reference model is a cross functional framework integrating 3 common concepts. The first concept is business process reengineering which is essentially evaluating the current state of the process and determining the desired state., benchmarking, and process measurement

How it’s measured –
* Measuring the performance of the supply chain and comparing against internal and external industry goals Supply chain performance is focused on:
* Reliability - achievement of customer demand fulfilment on-time, complete, without damage etc.
* Responsiveness - the time it takes to react to and fulfill customer demand
* Agility - the ability of supply chain to increase/decrease demand within a given planned period
* Cost - objective assessment of all components of supply chain cost
* Assets - the assessment of all resources used to fulfill customer demand

How –metrics
Process reference models integrate the well-known concepts of business process reengineering, benchmarking, and process measurement into a cross-functional framework
A process reference model has a few key features: Firstly, it defines the type of management process being implemented by using standard descriptions. It then links the relationships existing along the process by some form of framework, which identifies interdependencies along the process. As with most endeavors in order to value something the process needs to be measurable – a reference model assigns standard metrics to measure the performance of the process. A reference model will also reveal the management processes which are adding to the success of the process – the best-in-class performing management practices....
