Healthy Eating Plan Comparison
How have my eating habits changes? I would have to say that in the last month and a half I am proud of the changes that my family as well as I has implemented into our lives. While losing weight the healthy way and exercising is something that we have discussed several times prior to this class, it took me doing the food diary online for a couple of weeks to step up and make the changes that my family and I needed to begin a healthier way of life. I say way of life because we have all experienced differences that have been an improvement to our way of living.
Take the dinner that I am currently cooking as I am doing this paper. It consists of boneless skinless chicken breasts, a small baked potato and a dinner salad with a low fat ranch dressing. Before this class a typical meal would include several carbohydrates, fats and almost everything was fried and we would eat in front of the television several nights a week. Now we grill or bake all of our meats and include a vegetable or salad with every meal and eat at the table with no television. We no longer eat cookies or ice cream for a snack instead I have a wide variety of fresh fruit on hand and we also love to eat dry cereal as snacks as well. I have also began to take fresh vegetables with me to work as a snack with a dip I make that consists of low fat sour cream and hidden valley ranch packet of seasoning. I love it, not only is it healthy it tastes great.
When it comes to grocery shopping I have also changed my way of shopping. I know get the majority of my food by shopping the outer perimeter of our local grocery store. For example that is where our fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, meat, and dairy sections are located. I will say that our grocery budget has gone up a little but not as much as I previously thought it would. We recently put in our own garden as a family...
