Team Simulation Paper

This paper will discuss the team member roles and responsibilities of a task force created by the FBI to stop significant drug trafficking organization operation in Southern Arizona. During the task force process we will also identify the qualities of an effective group leader. During this time the task force will discuss issue that are occurring in the team and what course of action would be use to resolve the matter. Based on those facts, the team will identify the qualities of an effective group leader based on what conflict procedure will be implementing to resolve the issue.

Identify team member roles and responsibilities

The reason why Sam was chosen as the Lead Agent was because of his 12 years of experience and has served as lead agent on his last four assignments with the FBI. Based on the current facts, Sam has been deemed the designated leader. Also because of Sam fluency in Spanish and years abroad in South America studying the language, Sam appears to be the ideal candidate to lead this team effectively. Because of his strong work ethic which can be an asset to the team, Sam can also provide a lot of background knowledge on the Southwest Region which has been his primary focus as a Lead Agent. According to Engelberg and Wynn (2010), “In all these cases, the selection of the leader depend on an election or an appointment.” (p. 111).

The reason why Ricardo was chosen as the Assistant Lead Agent was because of his 16 years of experience with the FBI has been mainly in Arizona. He is very fluent in Spanish, has background experience in illegal immigration and illegal workers. Ricardo has been identified as a team player and favored by his superiors because of his work ethics and willingness to follow directions as well can breakdown information from the investigation to determine the facts as well as provide key information.
