The Global Recession and Workplace Malfeasance

* 1- Does this case prove economic downturns and company layoffs fail to lead to workplace malfeasance?

No this case doesn’t prove so, there are evidence present that financial and psychological pain caused by the recession may lead to take anyone at any stage. The recession and company layoffs have lead to increase the incidents of workplace violence, sabotage and theft. The other workplace malfeasance such as absenteeism also increased and productivity decreased.

The opportunists took advantage of these situations and the press also helped them a lot to boost their business as well. These opportunists are the giants and vendors of surveillance and security services providers. Beside this there were some incidents reported by the world renewed press, these incidents include the fatalities caused by such persons who were layoff by the companies in United States.

Therefore it is proved from the following case that the layoffs and economic recession has failed to lead to workplace malfeasance.

* 2-Does this case prove we can learn nothing from business process?

No this case does not prove we can learn nothing from the business press. Even though the poll suggests only a small minority of employers (18%) thought the recession had led to an increase in employee theft and violence. The media reported the opposite results. This is likely to be happening because the companies providing the surveillance facilities (Cameras, Software) publicize such incidents more prominently to increase their business and clientele.
