After reading this paper, you will be able to understand the “Foundations of Psychology”. My research begins with an author by the name of Robin M. Kowalski, who explains in her book entitled, “Introduction to Psychology 101”, the foundations of psychology. Other research is from two of the schools of thought in regards to psychology.

Psychology is a science of behavior and mental functioning that uses both quantitative and qualitative research studies to develop and test hypotheses and put forward theories and models that explain human behavior.” Introduction to Psychology 101, Robin M. Kowalski, Author, (2005).

Behavior can be changed due to stress which causes “behavioral manifestations”. Take Jenny, the woman who became unengaged. She began to manifest a terminal medical condition. The only way for Jenny to deal with the breakup was to become a perpetrator. Until someone in her support group discovered that her stories were inconsistent, she would have continued the charade.

Now that you have a brief explanation of the foundation of psychology, let’s look at the Biological aspect of psychology. Biological psychology is the study of the brain and the nervous system. The nervous system is the bodies system that carries messages to the brain. In order to move my fingers across the keyboard, the mind is telling my fingers to type what my mind has read from the research found to complete this paper. The nervous, peripheral, endocrine, central and automatic systems are what make up biological psychology.

According to Thomas Kuhn (1970), a philosopher of science, observed that science doesn’t progress in the way we think. It depends on the development of better and better Paradigms. Paradigm is a broad system of theoretical assumptions that’s used to make sense of their domain of study.
