The two most important goals ModMeters is looking to achieve is to expand its current operations as a whole and create new markets. In order for their growth plan to be implemented their IT departments must be structured for the change, so that each department can be assisted by IT and make the change without any problems. Management need an effective IT planning process that allows the various departments to integrate into the new business model that will be created for the companies expected and proposed growth.

Although IT is an extremely important factor in the business model for the proposed plan to work IT and the other department within the company must be willing to work together for the benefit of the company as a whole. To do this each department must complete steps that will ensure the company’s success during the plans beginning phases. A very important step into the plan is to have every department complete a SWOT analysis which should focus on how IT operates within that specific department.

IT affects everyone in the company and collecting data on how each department and employee uses and if affected by IT is important to how the change will be implemented.

Now that the departmental managers and executives have the data that the need in regards to how IT affects other departments the next step in the plan is to develop a very specific plan. ModMeter’s wants to expand globally and to sell “green” meters’ directly to consumers. Both methods of telling require an intense IT plan compared to the company’s current IT planning. With the data collected the next step is to create a plan that allows the organization to maintain its daily operations while still evolving towards the proposed plan’s goal.
