GEN 105, Analizing Internet Resources

What did you learn?

There are a few things I did learn from these two labs that I participated in. I learned to be more observant overall on several things when looking for good research for a paper online. First I had never really thought about comparing a library with the internet. Very good comparison about only certain hours being available to have any assistance or help searching information at a library compared to internet when there is no more available help at every hour despite internet being available 24 hours a day.

I also learned about the unreliability of the Wikepedia.com website. I have never been on the site so did not know that it’s information is just whatever anyone posts. Not verified. Also learned in general to pay more attention to the URL addresses from whatever website looking up the information from. Like which type of addresses are validated or certified or more likely to be true information.

What did I not learn?

I am so not sure how I am suppose to answer this question. I mean there are many things I did not learn from these two lab practices because I have done much research in the past using the internet just never on research papers. The basics of searching and knowing the internet is all the same regardless what you are researching. Same info as researching in a library as well. So as far as knowing where to research and look and basic reasearching skills there is nothing new that I learned from these labs. There is always tons of information out there just have to learn which is important or more valid or more correct way to go and that is what these labs mainly pointed out.
