I have been serving in the Army for 11 years now. I have spent 7 years on active duty and 4 years in the Army Reserve. Some of these lessons have been very helpful in my regular everyday life. One of those lessons is the importance of properly wearing your uniform.

Everything from your boots to your cover is judged and governed by a regulatory standard in the Army. The way you look is your first and sometimes only impression you leave on your superiors of all ranks. In my case my superiors are Staff Sergeants, Sergeants First Class’s, Master Sergeants, First Sergeants, Second Lieutenants, First Lieutenants, Captains, Major’s, Lieutenant Colonels, Colonels, and Generals of all ranks. All of which through there many years of military experience cast what they believe to be a sound judgment of exactly what type of soldier you are simple by looking at you. Little does it matter that we are taught at a young age not to judge a book by its cover. No in today’s Army it is believed that what you see is what you get.

Every uniform we wear and the exact way in which soldiers where them are governed by Army Regulation 670-1.
