1. Why do you think is it important for HR to be a strategic partner to the business?

a. I think that the point of having a HR department is very crucial and important thing to do and I feel that it is very strategic in the design of the company. This is because they are ensuring that the employees of the company are well informed, and aware that their company is keeping up with making sure they are in compliance and ensuring that the employees are safe.

HR holds many different functions such as guiding success in management, training, and even knowledge retention. These functions are part of the strategic partnership that is shown when a business ensures they have a well operating HR department. By strategically enforcing the HR functions and ensuring the appropriate use of the sources, a corporation or company is providing to their employees. HR, should be used as the same ground level as an upper management since they encompass the entire business in general.

A well running strategic partner of business keeps in mind the appropriate needs for business to ensure costs are being considered such as turnover, employee theft and such. While ensuring for a “well-oiled machine,” if you will, HR department and a strategic process to follow, the HR department and it’s managers will provide the needs of the business for the upcoming year and the plot to ensure the smooth process and transition for the coming years.

It is best said from a source I used, “For HR to be an effective strategic partner in any organization, the HR professionals must understand two things: 1) the business of the business and 2) that HR work begins with the business, not HR.” (Fulmer, 2006) By ensuring that this is being done, you will have a great smooth running business.
