“Southwest Airlines”

Introduction

What is generic benchmarking? It is the process of identifying focuses on strategies, activities, programs, and of a company(s) outcome.

Body

To begin the synopsis, The first issue was that of Planning, planning was the main issue to build the company. The planning led from everything to credibility, ranking, and customers, to employees and management. Another issue they used from the table was that of conflict, conflict was used in my opinion in a positive way, meaning that managers were expected to take active roles involving themselves in cross-functional conflicts. When there were conflicts in the workplace, there was an urgency to begin the conflict resolutions process. Interaction is another issue that was and is very important to this company’s success.

There is a process in which the company went by building relationships throughout Southwest Airlines, customers, and partners. Southwest stands on building partnerships with the airports it serves, air traffic controllers, and aircraft manufacturers.

Negotiation, which was one issue I used in the table that this company had usage with.

SWAPA and the Southwest Airlines company officials began contract negotiations sometime in September of 2006 under provisions of the Railway Labor Act (RLA). Under RLA, airline contracts do not expire. The current Southwest Pilot contract amendable date was Aug. 31, 2006; current contract terms remain in effect until a new agreement is ratified. The contract negotiation process is expected to last from 18-24 months. In that process, Southwest and SWAPA had to be able to meet and set a common goal and purpose between each other. They must agree to one plan, and in doing so using the communication prospective as well.
