Database Administration

Databases are for storage and management of data. In this day and age, nearly all businesses rely on databases to store, record, and organize and manage all data from such things as sales, transactions, inventory, and a customer’s information. It is extremely important to keep track of database to ensure stability of any data. Some individuals and companies will hire a database administrator to work with database management systems to monitor performance. The database administrator may make notes of the database’s specifications and add or edit users to the database. A database administrator is also responsible for system back-ups to ensure security of the data within the database and or make room for extreme amounts of data that may need to be stored.

It is important to seek and hire the appropriate educated person with an associates degree or related certification. This in turn may be all that is necessary to get one’s foot in the door as a low level analyst or perhaps an entry level administrative assistant. The length of education will only be seen as a starting point for previous experience. To expand growth in this field and to be placed on a hiring salary scale, one need to considered achievement, and this person should at least have bachelors in science, computer science, or management information systems (MIS).

The median salary for a Database Administrator in the United States is just over $85,000 a year.

Systems Administrator

A systems administrator can hold several positions and responsibilities. These responsibilities could involve things as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, upgrading, or even managing computers.
