Organizations must make career development a key business strategy if they intend to survive in a competitive business environment (Koonce, 1991). SunTrust Bank knows the key of a successful business strategy by recognizing the great talent, value, and viewpoint that new and existing employees bring to the organizations. The training staff/coordinators at SunTrust Bank are leaning toward building a successful career development program that will enhance the quality of work, improve work ethnics and to have a better-performing and stronger organization. With this in mind, managers are geared to help employees to enhance their career development plans and/or goals by creating a sense of fulfillments and accomplishments through the use of career development program such as mentoring, coaching, and job rotation.

Mentoring, coaching and job rotation will assist potential managers to have excellent customer service skill as well as prepared to handle problems through the use of critical thinking. At SunTrust Bank, it is our “commitment to support a diverse workplace and work environment is based on sound business judgment, a desire to win war for talent by attracting and retaining the very best employees, and a fundamental belief in and respect for the individual”, according to SunTrust Report on Diversity. Furthermore, the assessment phases of career development include activities ranging from self accomplishments as well as organizational assessments.
