The Influence of Organizational Culture and how it effects your Organization? Organizational Culture is defined by some as the observed customs, rites, ceremonies, stories and beliefs within an organization. Others define it as the conscious beliefs that influence employee's attitudes and behaviors. Organizational culture is an influencing factor for situation awareness (SA) and decision making (DM). Individual decisions made in any organization, including police agencies, are influenced by the organizational culture. Culture refers to the set of particular behaviors (called “behavioral norms”) that an organization’s members believe are expected of them if they are to fit in and survive. Culture can possess both negative and positive attributes. Depending on the culture created within the group or organization, an individual will, in a sense, be re-educated in making decisions that comply with the dominant view. At Armor Valley Services, Inc. (AVS), Organizational Culture (OC) is described as a culture where people who build teamwork, communicate efficiently and formulate trust. AVS believes trust forms the foundation for effective communication, employee retention, and employee motivation. AVS foundation is held together by six very important elements: team-work, trust, commitment, leadership support, effective communication, and most of all efficient protocol setting standards. Each element helps to build the longevity within the organization.

To provide a framework for the assessment and evaluation of the organizational culture, your organization needs to develop a picture of its desired future. Mission, vision, and values should be examined for both the strategic and the value based components of the organization.
