Determining Your Perfect Position

Major change in an organization is usually guided by the top management team, but any member of the organization can initiate change or contribute to its success (Yukl, 2010). Since this company is reorganizing, an opportunity to determine the best position has been given. The objective of this paper is to explain in detail the perfect position defining how the new role will benefit the company and how to be most successful while the company is expanding and restructuring. Throughout the paper the strengths and weaknesses of the leadership styles learned from the self-assessment tool will be identified and explained as well. The leadership theories applied to the leadership approach will also be compared and contrasted. This position will be as Staff Administrator Assistant.

Leadership Style Model

Effective leaders are continuously reading the situation and determining how to adapt their behavior to it (Yukl, 2010). Changes are sometimes difficult to implement and accept. A staff administrator can do a better job when following through from beginning to end and make an impact not only in the employees’ eyes, but in the organization as a whole. In this case we can say that the force-field model is the preferred model for the perfect position applying the three phases: unfreezing, changing, and refreezing. Accepting the new ways of doing things, looking for new ways, and accepting the new ways already established.

Leaders may not force changes, but employees should never resist to changes. Not always is about re-inventing the wheel, however changes are some or most of the times good to an organization, especially if they create a better job environment and increases production. This is when the staff administrator will come in to place to assist managers and companies.
