Key Performance Indicators for Dell Inc

Dell, Inc. is an American multinational computer technology corporation based in 1 Dell Way, Round Rock, Texas, United States, that develops, sells and supports computers and related products and services. Bearing the name of its founder, Michael Dell, the company is one of the largest technological corporations in the world, employing more than 103,300 people worldwide. Dell is listed at number 41 in the Fortune 500 list. It is the third largest PC maker in the world after HP and Lenovo.

Dell has grown by both increasing its customer base and through acquisitions since its inception; notable mergers and acquisitions including Alienware (2006) and Perot Systems (2009). As of 2009, the company sold personal computers, servers, data storage devices, network switches, software, and computer peripherals. Dell also sells HDTVs, cameras, printers, MP3 players and other electronics built by other manufacturers. The company is well known for its innovations in supply chain management and electronic commerce.

In recent months, Dell has been having financial problems due to the decrease in sales and several lawsuits against the company. The following are the KPIs we will use to measure the performance of the company.

• $ sales/revenues in the last year

• # of new customers that bought products in their website

• # of website visitors per day compared to last years

• # of products manufactured

• % cost of goods sold

1. The KPI for measuring sales for laptops and desktops sold in the United States during 2011 is 60% less than the revenues from 2010 and 2009. This means that we are definitively have a decrease in sales this year.

2. The KPI for measuring new customers that registered in the website that bought items is less than 10%.

3. The KPI for measuring the number of visitor per day has decrease in 20% in average when compared with last years measured.
