Hello everyone. My name is Angela Rivera. I live in Spokane, WA and I’m currently employed at The Spokane Hospital specializing in Infectious Diseases as a Medical Assistant. Before I got into this field I worked at Hawthorn Suites Hotel for 5 years making my way to Front Office Supervisor. I did like my job but I wasn’t passionate about what I did. In 2006 I enrolled into a Medical Assistant course at Everest College. Graduating with honors in 2007, I immediately found a job at Harborview Hospital working as a Medical Assistant on the Rehabilitation Unit. Since that job was only temporary I was lucky to find a full time job at The Polyclinic. As a student at Argosy University I am pursing my Business degree concentrating in Health Care Management. My long term goal is to become a manager at CPS to help abused children. I have always had a deep passion for helping others, especially neglected children. This course should really give me some great ethical management tips.

One non professional experience I encountered at work was when I was asked to work but off the clock so I wouldn’t encounter overtime. Time management had nothing to do with this issue either. It was simply a scheduling error that was made on my manager’s behalf. My role in this situation was tough. The only way to resolve this issue was to report it to a higher authority which was our Human Resources Department. I believe they handled this situation very professionally by having us meet. They explained to my manager that she can be fired for asking or making me work off the clock and I can be fired for doing it.

After meeting with Human Resources I felt I knew a little more about business law and ethics then I did before because I never knew I could be fired for listening to my boss.
