Champions of the Green Movement

A new age of change is upon us. There now exists a green movement that attempts to create a sustainable environment. The question remains how to go about this task. Over the last year, Ms. Lisa Jackson head of the Environmental Protection Agency and her staff have introduced new innovative environmental protections that will radically improve low-income communities, create jobs that will empower green movement and America's economic recovery. Millions of Americans view the green movement as a rebirth, a reawakening of messages from Dr. King and leaders from our past. The dream once held by these men and women was that of equality for all people. Presently it would not be hard to predict by gauge of income level who will be most affected by the impacts of air pollution, have less access to fresh food, and have to worry the most about water quality, based on the community in which they live. The green economy initiative headed by Ms. Jackson promises to solve those problems and put people back to work. It's the dream of a new green America, which supports its people with cleaner environmental efforts as well as creating needed jobs.

Many cities have joined on board with Ms. Jacksons initiatives. Individuals such as Rep. Cleaver, Naomi Davis amongst others are now leading a new movement, a movement for a green economy. The Mayor of Kansas City, Cleaver has created an state-of-the-art Green Improvement Zone. Naomi Davis founder of Blacks in Green in Chicago. She is creating a legacy for our youth within the community. A structure from which to organize the black community, train local leaders and tap into the cultural heritage of tenacity and togetherness. Ms. Davis has been quoted as calling this plan “Grannynomics.” The youth of yesterday are tomorrow’s leaders. They are in a fight for a green movement which creates a green economy.
