A writer will face many challenges when writing a paper. Three challenges I encounter are; choosing a topic, staying on target, and finding minor errors. When choosing a topic, I have trouble selecting one that I know many details about. Deciding on a topic is important to draw a reader's attention. A proper topic sentence defines what will be said within the paragraph. Staying on target also can be a hard task to accomplish because some specific details lead to other topics that should not be stated in that paragraph. By switching topics in one paragraph, the reader will become confused and no longer be interested in what the writer had to say. Creating a rough draft will weed out all of the off-topic details. Correcting minor errors is important, such as missing an apostrophe or using the wrong spelling of a word. Minor errors can also disinterest a reader and will not make any sense. One example is using the word “their” or “there,” these two words have different meanings but sound the same when pronounced. Every writer faces challenges of some kind when composing the perfect article, essay, or novel.

Every author will have a different strategy for overcoming writing obstacles. Practicing correcting mistakes will become a habit to write correctly. Revising written work becomes very important at this point. Time management is also a good thing to remember when beginning to write. One strategy to overcome choosing a topic is to make a list of the different choices and choose the best one. When making the list, it is necessary to think about the details related to the topic. A good way to stay on target is by writing notes associated with the topic that the paragraph will include and only write according to those notes. Finding minor errors can be accomplished by using a grammar check and carefully proofreading the document.
