How many hours people are on the internet at work for personnel reasons?
(1). Write a hypothesis of what you expect your research to reveal. Example: Adults 21 years and over watch an average of 2.5 hours of TV per day.
I expect my research to reveal that the age group between 25 and 55 spends a minimum of 1 hour and a half per day on the internet for personnel reasons.
(2). Sample at least fifteen people and record their data in a simple table or chart; study the examples from Section 12-3.
Name average of everyday
Rod 1/2 hours
Jennifer 1 1/2 Min
Cathy 3 hours
Kim 1 1/2 hours
Billy 2 hours
Mary 2 1/2 hours
Robert 1/2 hours
Shelia 3 hours
Paula 1 hour
Imair 1 1/2 hours
Tim 1 hour
David 1/2 hours
Renaul 1/2 hours
Emily 1 hour
Paul 2 hours
(3). You can gather your data at work, on the phone, or via some other method. This is your “Sampling Design.” Which of the four sampling techniques best describes your design?
The best sampling technique, which best describes my design is the Radom sample method.
(4). Explain in moderate detail the method you used to gather your data. In statistics this venture is called the “Methodology.”
The way that I got my data was by calling people I know, which are my friends, whom I know use the internet at as a part of their job.
(5). Make sure you break your sample into classes or groups, such as males/females, or ages, or time of day, etc.
25 to 29 30 to 39 40 to 50 51 to 55
Imair (1 ½) Billy (2) Emily (1) Tim (1)
Renaul (1/2) Paula (1) Cathy (3) Jennifer (1 ½)
Kim (1 ½) Rod (1/2) Mary (2 ½) David (1/2)
Paul (2) Emily (1) Shelia (3)
(6). Calculate the mean, median, and mode for your data as a whole.
The mean .5 +1.5 +3 +1.5 +2 +2.5 +.5 +3+1+1.5+.5+.5+1+2/15 = 1.4
The median is 1.25
The mode is .5, 1,1.5,2,3
(7) Now calculate the mean, median, and mode of each of your classes or groups....
