Course Description

This course provides a foundational perspective for ethics and social responsibility in relationship to individuals, organizations, and the community. Emphasis is placed on the interrelated nature of ethics, morality, legal responsibility, and social issues.

Course Topics & Objectives

Week One: Ethical and Moral Perspectives

• Describe the difference between ethics and morality.

• Compare major ethical theories.

• Explain the relationship between virtue, values, and moral concepts.

Week Two: Individual Responsibility in the Community

• Describe the responsibility of individuals to the community.

• Evaluate the influence of socially responsible efforts.

Week Three: Organizational Ethics

• Apply ethical principles to address organizational issues.
