The process that I have selected is the process of doing my families laundry as shown in the flow chart. I have a very large family of six so the amount of laundry each week is a lot.

I have used the features of Microsoft Word to design the flowchart as it is simple and not overly graphic which could confuse the reader. I was able to take the flow chart and do an analysis of the steps of doing laundry from start to finish in a format that anyone following the chart could comprehend easily. This chart can also be referred to over and over again with the same concept being used each time. This system of documentation allow for a development of a process that can be obtain each time or changed as the system changes.

The factors that affect the process of design in doing a large amount of laundry would be making sure the clothes are sorted in the right color, the correct temperature is used, the correct detergent and fabric softener is used.

Following are the steps involved in doing laundry:

(1) Sort the cloths for white, red and dark colors.

(2) Check the pockets of pants in sorted cloths pile and empty it.

(3) Read the clothing label to follow the instructions.

(4) Measure the correct amount of detergent.

(5) Pour the laundry detergent into washer.

(6) If fabric softener is needed, add it or else go to step 7.

(7) Choose the water temperature as per instruction of washing machine instruction.

(8) If cloths are sensitive to temperature, then go to step 9 or else go to step 12.

(9) Select cold water.

(10) If cloths are durable fabrics like cotton, then go to step 11 or else go to step 12.

(11) Select hot water.

(12) Choose the laundry cycle.

(13) If it is delicate fabrics, then go to step 14 or else go to step 15.

(14) Select gentle cycle.

(15)Select Regular cycle.

(16) Adjust the soiled level as per clothes dirtiness.

(17) Put the cloth in the machine, close the lid and start the machine.

(18) Wait for 50 minutes.
