Executive Summary

The purpose of this report is to measure logistics performance by supply chain and discuss the logistics performance of a real organization by the elements of supply chain structure.

The background of McDonald’s is referred to, including establish in America and development in Australia. Furthermore, a review of topics covered were provided, which cover transport selection, inventory management, customer service and performance measure and so on.

The important aspects of supply chain structure about McDonald’s were describe, such as number of retail outlets, form of transportation, and relationship with suppliers. Also, those elements as significant points in logistics system affect customer service supplied by McDonald’s. For McDonald’s, it can supply customer service in low cost by doing well in raw material transport and inventory management. At the same time, McDonald’s provides fast food to customer in short lead time through short ordering cycle time.

The report is about McDonald’s. All the information came from web sites of company and articles in internet. The report is divided into three parts: introduction, findings and conclusion.

1.3 Methodology

In data collection, McDonald’s information is collected in internet, and the supply chain structure and logistics performance were referred to.

1.4 Assumption

It is assumed that that the reader will have a background in logistics.

1.5 Limitation

Because the report was finished in two weeks, there wasn’t enough time to do too much data collection about McDonalds. Also, because the group didn’t have enough technical knowledge, some important information can’t be found....
