Nowadays, a increasing number of people are leaving cities to flee urban inconveniences and to settle down in rural areas, where the living conditions are better. Thus, how can cities reinvent themselves?

At first, the urban structure often raises issues: on the one hand, poor or discriminated people are concentrated in old industrial areas or in dilapidated neighborhoods, like the inner cities in America, whereas, on the other hand, rich people are settled down in suburbs. This geographical organization needs to be rethinking. Indeed, cities should restore and revitalize old neighborhoods by creating modern shopping malls and housing, while paying attention to the esthetical aspect, they should promote social mixing through the building of public housing in suburbs and offer job opportunities within the cities .These measures also enables cities to eradicate violence in deprived neighborhoods

This urban organization should also promote sustainable development. Indeed, cities are facing with pollution, transport and noise problems. That is why; cities could count on modern and ecological transport facilities, like the tramway system, and prompt people to leave their car. London has thus created tolls around the center to discourage people to take their car. By keeping or creating green spaces, by privileging an art of living worthy the rural atmosphere and making efforts to combine environment and urbanization, cities can reinvent themselves.

Finally, cities should focus on the recreational facilities. Nowadays, the cultural aspect has become a powerful means to attract people. Therefore, the “image policy “of cities has to go through the building of great architectural masterworks and through the organization of cultural events.
