How Has Streamlining Movies Through the Internet Effected Video Rental Locations?

Having the opportunity to view movies and TV shows through Netflix instantly has been a revolution for our generation. Access to Netflix is easier than having to go out to a Blockbuster video rental store because you can stream movies instantly through your laptop or your cell phone. The affect that Netflix has had on video rental stores such as Blockbuster has had such a negative outcome. Many of the Blockbuster locations all across the nation have closed out because of the revolution of Netflix’s impact in our world.

Video rental stores such as Hollywood Videos have all closed out across the nation, completely. They lost all their momentum with trying to gain revenue of renting out their DVDs because people have preferred to go to Redbox or turned to Netflix because they are cheaper alternatives. Our society today has all been accustomed to the “easy way out” type of lifestyle because of technology. We are all so used to everything being handed and so accessible to us, that we do not go out to the movie rental stores to rent DVDs anymore.

Redbox is also a competitor with video rental stores and Netflix. It is available practically anywhere, such as restaurants, grocery stores, and almost every convenient store corner. The reason why Redbox is a big hit and has also been a big cause to why the Blockbusters and the Hollywood Videos have all shut down is because it is the cheapest alternative to renting DVDs and/or Blu Ray discs. Renting video games from Redbox is also offered as well.

It is the price factor that is really an issue when it comes to these scenarios because when Redbox first started out, it only cost a dollar to rent all the newly released DVDs. Whereas at Blockbuster, it would be about $3.99 for a brand new released DVD and $1.99 for a fairly older DVD. After everyone...
