SDLC of Hoosier Burger

As Bob wanted to move his business from paper to electronic services he knew he would need to utilize the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process to actually select the proper process and system for his business. The SDLC is systems planning and selection, systems analysis, systems design and systems implementation and operation (Valacich, George & Hoffer, 2009). So now bob will need to follow each of these four phases to be able to find his companies needs and implement the systems selected properly. This paper will take a quick look at these phases and explain with examples the process for Bob and Hoosier Burger.

In the first phase systems planning and selection, Bob must decide on how the SDLC priorities will be handled. How will this process interfere with the current business operations? Who will work on the SDLC and who will still conduct daily operations of the business under its current system? This must be planned and known by all workers who will be working on the project and planned under the project management system as well since this is a business project he wants to within itself.

In the second phase system analysis a description of the current system must be analyzed to make sure that all the known current business requirements are met (2009). Next it must be known what it is that is trying to be made better or fixed. Bob has stated that he wants to eliminate errors in reporting of consumptions due to hand written sales orders. Also he has stated he wants to be able to electronically forecast inventory usage and needs. But this must be analyzed to know at what level the tracking will be needed. Will the tracking and usage be tracked just from daily inventory counts? Or will there be tracking from the point of order by the customer? If so then the cash registers will need to be...
