Perspective on Health Care

Complete the Perspective on Health Care Questionnaire located below. Some of these questions are related to real life experiences you have seen or experienced in obtaining health care services for yourself or family members. Health care services can be any aspect along the health care continuum such as doctor’s visits, dentist, clinic visits, and getting blood drawn, to being a patient in a hospital or nursing home.

Several questions also focus on your career aspirations within the health care industry. Be prepared to discuss your completed responses in Week One.

1. What does “health” mean to you? To me, health means to be healthy and not go the way that humans normally go when they are older. As we age, we all become smaller and weaker losing muscle mass and mobility functions the older we get. Health would mean to take care of yourself and do the necessary steps to remain functional and healthy even as we age so that we are able to care for ourselves and avoid serious illness along the way.

4. If you are not currently working in health care, explain your interest in obtaining a health care degree. My interest in obtaining a degree in healthcare is because I want to help people in some fashion and the medical field is a great way to do so. I also like the fact that choosing a career in this field is almost recession proof. There will always be a need for people to work in the medical filed no matter the pay or hours or even if it can sometimes be thankless or scary when new diseases come out.
