Abstract

Information technology has in the last decade advanced in incredible ways. Cloud computing has become a useful system in enhancing business processes especially on information sharing. Despite the existence of cloud computing, its functionality is poorly understood. Most people have taken the term cloud computing in its literal meaning as a cyber cloud floating somewhere. This research paper, therefore, seeks to elaborate on what cloud computing entails.

A rapid shift from traditional systems has taken place. This has resulted to an increase in the sharing of IT infrastructure, such as, servers, hardware and networks. Businesses no longer need to own such infrastructure. Alternatively, they can be provided at a lower cost by service providers. It is in this regard that this research paper also seeks to analyze issues relating to the growth and use of cloud computing.

Cloud computing has been associated with increased efficiency in business processes, convenience and virtualization of data storage and servers among others. However, a considerable number of people are still wary of the safety and reliability of data transmitted through cloud computing.
