Subject: Ergonomics in the Workplace

Authorization and Background:

At our last meeting on March 2, we discussed the need to implement in our company a program that helps us to increase the employees’ productivity and effectiveness. In order to make this possible, the company decided to develop an ergonomics program. As a result, we were requested to explore the impact, benefits and advantages that an introduction of ergonomics in the workplace has.

We submit this proposal in response to the request.

WMSDs are a result of a bad match between the worker, the work they perform and the equipment they use. More common names for WMSDs include repetitive stress injuries, cumulative trauma disorders, tennis elbow, white finger, and the most common of all, carpal tunnel syndrome. This productivity is said to be achieved by equipment redesign and of savings achieved from the reduction of accidents, and from improvements in the working environment.
