Storage

Storage is the place where persistent data is kept. It is also a place where data is stored in an electromagnetic form that can be access by a computer processor. We need systems in which users can securely store critical information, ensuring that it persists, is continuously accessible, cannot be destroyed and is kept confidential. Besides, storage technologies at all levels of the storage hierarchy can be differentiated by evaluating certain core characteristics as well as measuring characteristics specific to a particular implementation. These core characteristics are volatility, mutability, accessibility, and addressability. For any particular implementation of any storage technology, the characteristics worth measuring are capacity and performance. There are two main types of data which is primary storage and secondary storage. Storage is used to store the data for future use and it always store the data after input and output is displayed. For instance, the input such as name, address, e-mail or phone number will be manually store after the user key in their information.

AirAsia enable their information system to automatically store the information that their customers entered into a database. The database will include the customer’s profile such as name, password, sex, date of birth, country, address, identity card number, passport number, e-mails, and telephone number. With these input information, AirAsia’s workers would know about the profile of certain customers as this is very important for them to operate efficiently and effectively. It also allow AirAsia’s workers to check the customers flight booking easily if the customer ask for confirmation about their flight ticket. Once the customers entered their information into the database, they do not have to fill again for the next return of flight booking.
