Suggested New Programming Objectives

The four opera season was fulfilling from the standpoint of the amount of opera we could explore, but it was also putting constant pressure on our production budgets and limiting our programming choices to operas with smaller casts.

Our return to three operas in 2012-13 gives us a great opportunity to expand our reach in the repertoire, and to re-articulate our artistic goals for the future. As well, we can explore new performance models such as smaller scale works in smaller venues, and we can look at local and national collaborations to build our Victoria audience, and increase our impact nationally, while sharing expenses to enhance quality.

The following is a draft of general programming guidelines for discussion.
