AUTHOR’S ARGUMENT: There has always been an issue in the construction industry about cost analysis. As a Construction Manager there has really been no definitive way of knowing how your project is doing at a certain time unless you do some extensive research. All of that is about to change when your company upgrades to integrated solutions designed for the construction industry. In a split second your company will be able to track how the project is moving and any important data that needs to be addressed from the estimating stage to the construction phase. The software integration will track change orders, define accounting issues and give the Project Manager detailed information right at their fingertips. Knowing where you stand before and during construction can make or break profit.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: This article could not have been more right. The company that I currently work for has big issues with tracking costs from bid to site. Some project managers; that work at this company, do not even look at costs that the estimator has inputted. They just choose to wing it with buy numbers and end up costing the company thousands of dollars. I looked at some integrated solutions and found Maxwell Systems; (http://www.maxwellsystems.com/) this is a complete construction management software package.
