The main purpose of what you are about to read is simply to inform everyone of how advanced the on going situation with Affirmative Action has come over the past years. It has been understood by many that yes, men, women, blacks, Hispanics and every other race deserves the right of being treated as such, a human being that is. Even though America's civil rights and equal opportunity laws have come a long way due to Affirmative Action, there is still a lot to be accomplished. It all began with The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides that "no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws", mentioned by David P. (1987).  "The Constitution in the Supreme Court: The New Deal, 1931- 1040: University of Chicago Law Review 54: 504, 547, ISSN 00419494.  The Equal Protection Clause can be seen as an attempt to secure the promise of the United States; professed commitment to the proposition that "all men are created equal: by empowering the judiciary to enforce that principle against the states.  Congressman John Bingham of Ohio was the one responsible for the idea of the Equal Protection Clause.  Even in today’s society women may earn less than a man will while doing the same job. We are in 2009, and still, there is a lot of controversy between gender, ethnicity and race still existing in today’s society. Women have come a long way, but we still have a lot left to go and accomplish. Not to mention, how far blacks have come. Especially with the historical even that took place early this year, in January. The United States of America honored its first African American President. It is still a little hard to believe that we as people are learning to accept and let go of what has harmed us in the past.
