Question 1: Introduction to Management

A) There are managers in most of organizational societies. Managers are formally authorized to make decisions and they are responsible for other organizational members’ work performance. Organizations generally have three levels of management by top managers, middle managers and junior managers. Regardless of level, managers are also usually associated with the organization such as marketing, finance, operations, human resources or administration area(Davidson , P. et al., Management, 13, Australia: John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd, 2005) . This forms a hierarchy which is ranked in order of importance.

Top management is a relatively small group of executives who manage the overall organization. Titles found in this group include managing director(MD) and chief executive officer(CEO)(Davidson , P. et al., Management, 14, Australia: John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd, 2005). The key roles top management does are top management builds the broad policies and objectives of the organization, top management issues important instructions on department schedules, procedures and budgets, etc,

Middle management is probably the largest group of managers in most organization .Common middle management titles include plant manager, operations manager, general manager and division head(Davidson , P. et al., Management, 14, Australia: John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd, 2005)The key roles middle management does are middle management execute the plans of the organization in accordance with the policies and directions from the top management, middle management make plans for the sub-units, middle management participate in employment training in junior management.

Junior management supervises and coordinate the activities of operating employees. Common titles for junior management are supervisor, coordinator and office manager (Davidson, P. et al., Management, 14 Australia: John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd, 2005)
