Colgate was started by William Colgate who sells starch, soap and candle business on Dutch Street in New York around 1806. Colgate have been established for more than 200 years is better known as Colgate-Palmolive Company which is an American diversified multinational corporation focused on the production, distribution and provision of household, health care and personal products, such as soaps, detergents, and oral hygiene products that include toothpaste and toothbrushes. Major product areas include household and personal care products, food products, health care and industrial supplies, and sports and leisure time equipment. Besides that, this company also is a manufacturer of veterinary product under its “Hill’s” brand. Colgate now markets a broadly diversified mix of products in lots of countries and Colgate-Palmolive (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is one of the branch of the company.

Colgate-Palmolive (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. operates as a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive Co. is the first company to obtain Halal Certification from the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC). Only locally manufactured products were eligible to receive the Malaysian Halal logo. Toothpaste that is manufactured by Colgate is and always been Halal and does not contain animal ingredients or alcohol.

Colgate-Palmolive (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. offer products that allow global consumers to improve quality of life for themselves and the ones they love as the company is in the business of care. The company now focusing on four core of businesses which is Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, and Pet Nutrition.
