Caledon "Cal" Hockley is a fictional villain character in the movie “Titanic”, which was directed by James Cameron. Cal was played by American actor Billy Zane. From the beginning audience can see the power of this character, by his appearance, car, luxury room and expensive pictures. Moreover, he puts money into the first place, he did not mind concerning for the Rose, even when she was driven to consider suicide during the voyage, hopefully, she was saved only by the intervention of a poor young man, Jack Dawson, with whom she falls in love. Hockley invited Jack to the dinner with him as thanks for saving life of his lover. He though that money could bring happiness and love. James Cameron showed it through the gift which Cal presented to Rose, it was rare diamond, called "Heart of the Ocean". In addition, Cal was shown to the audience as selfish and grasping man, when he suspected unfaithfulness of Rose, he called a detective to look after them. On the one hand he was so furious and he was able to kill Jack, but on the other hand, he really loved Rose and could forgive her everything. Later, Caledon and Jack reluctantly joined forces in order to get Rose to leave the sinking ship, but she jumped back on board, in order to be with Jack. Caledon survived this terrible crash of Titinic, by getting into the lifeboat while pretending to take care of a young child, but his care perishes when the Titanic splits in two. Finally, he committed suicide by shooting himself because of bankruptcy.
