Article Summary

So after reading this article called “Out of the Box” was really interesting because better technologies are being made. This article is about making 3-D television without using the 3-D glasses. It basically wants you to create a 3-D experience glasses-free, comfortable and as in- your face as watching the super bowl from the front row at the stadium. By combining existing techniques with a few new tricks, the researchers are finding better ways to fool the brain into thinking the action is right there in room said in the article. Also “the technology is getting closer to creating something that looks like a sculpture made out of light” says Greg Favalora in the article.

In my opinion I think that this would be very cool to watch 3-D TV without using the 3-D glasses because you can just watch 3-D nonstop and makes television much entertaining. But I think this wouldn’t be successful because it wouldn’t sell a lot because the price would be $10,000 and I think not a lot of people would be able to purchase this kind of TV. Also because with these kind of TVs you would have to purchase a small screen TV because the trick of requires the eyes to be in just the right spot, it works particularly well for small screens held at a fixed distance said in the article. If I was going to by a 3-D TV I would want to buy a flat screen TV not a small screen because I feel that I would enjoy a big screen more. But whoever is creating this type of TV would have to do a lot of work. First I think if they make this, they would have to find some type of way to make a bigger screen. Also, they would have to make the eye health better because the further an object appears to pop out in front of or behind the screen, the more likely that the image will stress out the eyes. Another way it could hurt your eyes is if you cross your eyes and you’ll feel the disconcerting effects of this conflict: a blurry image, eyestrain and sometimes headaches said in the article....
